Q: Who issues the diploma?
A: You’ll earn your diploma from AchievePoint. AchievePoint is accredited by Cognia.
AchievePoint invests heavily in maintaining our accreditation. We conduct periodic reviews with our Cognia accreditation team as accreditation is an ongoing process and we are always seeking to improve our school’s service level.
In order to earn accreditation through Cognia, AchievePoint had to document compliance with all of their standards in areas ranging from school vision, curriculum, instruction, and school leadership, to student services, facilities and finance, and continuous improvement.
Regional accreditation is a way to validate that the credits or diploma you earn at AchievePoint will be recognized by schools, colleges and universities, employers, and the U.S. military.
Q: What are the eligibility requirements?
A: To enroll in AchievePoint, you must be between the ages of 15-21 and be a resident of Ohio.
Q: Is this program really free?
A: Yes! AchievePoint is a tuition-free community school funded by the state of Ohio. There are no fees associated with attendance, transportation using school-provided city bus passes, materials, or supplies.
Q: Are there any face-to-face requirements?
A: Our Cincinnati-based program, AchievePoint Career Academy, is a blended learning program. That means students will need to spend approximately 20 hours a week in the classroom and approximately 12 hours a week outside of the classroom working on school work.
There are no face-to-face requirements for AchievePoint Virtual Academy (virtual-only) students, though students are still required to stay on track with their courses by meeting weekly and monthly deadlines outlined in the student portal. Students are also required to participate in state testing, which is conducted at a location convenient for students and families.
Q: What is the difference between AchievePoint Career Academy and AchievePoint Virtual Academy?
A: AchievePoint Career Academy is a blended learning program based in Cincinnati. Students who live in the Cincinnati area can enroll and they will spend about two and a half days each week on campus for in-person instruction, guidance, and support, while completing the rest of their coursework online.
AchievePoint Virtual Academy is a fully online program available to students across Ohio. Coursework can be completed anytime, anywhere, with the same wraparound support services—delivered virtually—that help every student stay on track and succeed.
Q: Which school should I attend, AchievePoint Career Academy or AchievePoint Virtual Academy?
A: It depends on where you live and how you prefer to learn.
If you live in the Cincinnati area and like a mix of in-person and online learning, AchievePoint Career Academy may be the best fit. You’ll spend part of your week on campus getting hands-on support and the rest learning online.
If you live anywhere else in Ohio—or you prefer a fully online experience—AchievePoint Virtual Academy is the right choice. You’ll complete your coursework remotely with full access to wraparound support services.
Either way, both schools provide the same high-quality education and career-focused training to prepare you for what’s next.
Q: What are the graduation requirements for this program?
A: To earn your diploma from AchievePoint, you will need to complete the graduation requirements of the State of Ohio. Graduation requirements could vary depending on which year you started 9th grade.
Q: How long will it take to complete my diploma?
A: That depends on how many credits you will be transferring in and how quickly you work. Typically, students who need 1-5 credits when they enter graduate within 7 months. At AchievePoint, you can graduate as soon as you meet all of the requirements – no need to wait until June!
Q: Do we have to participate in state testing?
A: AchievePoint students have the same testing requirements as other public school students. However, you may qualify to have your tests waived by earning certain career certifications or earning remediation-free scores on the ACT or SAT.
Q: Does AchievePoint provide laptops and internet access?
A: Yes, AchievePoint students receive a school-provided laptop and wifi hotspot so they can work on classes anytime and anywhere.
