Q: Who issues the diploma?
A: You’ll earn your diploma from AchievePoint Career Academy. AchievePoint is expected to receive full accreditation by AdvancEd, the accrediting agency for most public schools in the US, in Fall 2018. Your diploma will be recognized by post-secondary institutions, employers, and the military.
Q: What are the eligibility requirements?
A: To enroll in AchievePoint Career Academy, you must be between the ages of 15-21 and be a resident of Ohio.
Q: Is this program really free?
A: Yes! AchievePoint Career Academy is a tuition-free community school funded by the state of Ohio. There are no fees associated with attendance, transportation using school-provided city bus passes, materials, or supplies.
Q: How many applicants will you take for this program?
A: Space is limited in this program. To qualify for preferred enrollment, you need to meet the eligibility requirements, complete your application, and submit your transcripts (unofficial are ok) as soon as possible.
Q: Are there any face-to-face requirements?
A: This is a blended learning program. That means you will need to spend approximately 12 hours a week in the classroom and approximately 12 hours of week outside of the classroom working on your school program. In addition to classroom time, you may also have the opportunity to participate in-person in work experience or job shadowing programs.
Q: What are the graduation requirements for this program?
A: To earn your diploma from AchievePoint Career Academy, you will need to complete the graduation requirements of the State of Ohio. Graduation requirements could vary depending on which year you started 9th grade.
Q: How long will it take to complete my diploma?
A: That depends on how many credits you will be transferring in and how quickly you work. Typically, students who need 1-5 credits when they enter graduate within 7 months. At AchievePoint, you can graduate as soon as you meet all of the requirements – no need to wait until June!
Q: Do we have to participate state testing?
A: AchievePoint students have the same testing requirements as other public school students. However, you may qualify to have your tests waived by earning certain career certifications or earning remediation-free scores on the ACT or SAT.
Q: How will we complete our course work when we’re off campus?
A: AchievePoint students will receive a school laptop and internet hotspot to use while they are off campus.
